The Odysseon Bucket List

The Ultimate Adventure Travel Bucket List

At Odysseon we are lucky enough to have been on our fair share of adventures –  which only means that our wish list for future travels keeps expanding! There are adventure bucket lists all over the internet, bur they tend to be all quite similar, so we made our own one. Here’s a list of all of our ultimate bucket list destinations and adventures . Check them out and see if yours are on here.

• Hiking in Socotra (Charlie)

Socotra is an island off the coast of Yemen that developed in isolation from the rest of the world, so it’s completely unlike anywhere else. I would love to spend a week hiking there.

• Ski and Base Jump The Eiger (Mattias)

• Flying and Hiking in Alaska & Greenland (Alex)

I’m working towards my Pilot License so that I can spend time flying and hiking over these extraordinary landscapes.

• A True Odyssey (Charlie)

One of my big dreams is to follow the journey of Odysseus as he sailed from ancient Troy to Ithaca, via the many places he visited.  Hopefully it won’t take ten years!

• Sailing along the West coast of Mexico (Alex)

It’s a big goal of mine to sail down the coast of Mexico.  I’m keen to become a better sailor, and to track down some sharks and mola mola!

• Hannibal’s route to Rome (Charlie)

A real expedition, probably taking three months or more – following in the footsteps of Hannibal, through Spain and the Pyrenees, crossing France and climbing the Alps before descending into into Italy.

• Heli Skiing in Chile. Or Alaska. Or New Zealand’s Southern Alps (Laura)

You can’t beat having the mountain to yourself, and to do it in one of these amazing countries would be phenomenal.

• Hiking/Packrafting traverse of Scandinavia (Charlie)

I’ve got a plan for an expedition, starting on the West Coast of Norway.  We’d hike into the mountains, then find a river and raft all the way down to the Baltic Sea.  No idea how achievable it is, but I’d love to find out!

• Cycle Touring in Central Asia (Alex)

A cycle tour of Central Asia, going through Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Tibet and Northern India.  Best way to travel with such incredible scenery.

• Ice climbing in Rjukan, Norway (Mattias)

Some information on Rjukan, Northern Europe’s premier ice climbing venue.

• Traverse of Baffin Island (Alex)

‘I’d love to do a solo traverse of Baffin Island in northern Canada – it’s so remote and has some incredible wildlife and scenery.’

• Ibn Battuta’s route through Africa (Alex)

Ibn Battuta’s travelling went on for about 29 years and he covered about 75,000 miles, visiting the equivalent of 44 modern countries.  For my trip, I’d love to travel overland from Morocco to Timbuktu – it would be such an incredible journey.

• Visit the Gates of Hell, Turkmenistan (Joe)

This is a natural gas field in Derweze, Turkmenistan, that collapsed into an underground cavern in 1971, becoming a natural gas crater.  The hole is 230 feet wide that has been on fire for over 40 years.  Such an incredible place to visit!
